Tandoori Chicken Sosaties

 

Ingredients:

(makes 15 sosaties)

2kg Chicken breast fillets cut into small pieces or cubes

2 onions finely chopped

2 teaspoons of garam masala curry powder

1 teaspoon of turmeric

1 teaspoon of ground ginger

salt and black pepper for seasoning

15 ml olive oil

2 greenpeppers cut into cubes

2 red onions, peeled and cut into segments

Method:

  •  In a shallow saucepan, heat 15 ml of olive oil and add 2 chopped onions.  Fry the onions until translucent.
  • Add garam masala curry powder, turmeric, ginger and season with salt and pepper. Add a chopped chillie for extra heat.  Fry for 2 minutes.
  • Using a food processor, blend the onion and curry mixture until smooth.
  • Mix chicken cubes with onion and curry mixture and cover to marinate for at least 1 hour.
  • Skewer chicken cubes, red onions and green peppers alternatively.
  • Using a hot grill, grill sosaties untill cooked. (Time depends on cube size).

 

Serve with:

I served these sosaties with grilled polenta, mixed vegetables and gem squash.  You can keep it Indian by serving it with steamed Basmati Rice or a vegetable pillau.
